The last few years have been full of changes and new beginnings for us at DHS. We've welcomed new teachers and coaches, new activities and ideas and this year we have new I Pads! Our families have become more involved at DHS and our students are working harder than ever. We've surpassed many goals both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. The Tiger Pride is alive and well at Dothan High School and we hope you, our Tiger families, will continue to be involved, supporting our staff and our students as we work together to reach our goals.
PTO has worked hard at DHS. We've tried out new activities, fundraisers, new topics for meetings and creative ways of boosting parental involvement. Our families really stepped up last year and together we logged over 600 hours participating with the PTO. We raised a little money, we increased awareness, we increased involvement, and we had tons of fun doing it all. Nothing we do would be possible with out Principal Stan Eldridge and his continuous support and guidance. His leadership helped us host successful fundraisers, activities and events, as well as boost school pride and the sense of community. He was always available to offer a helping hand and his undying support. I know he will guide our students to accomplish great things and I look forward to seeing what our school will accomplish next. COMMUNICATION is the key to being successful. We will be working closely with our faculty and staff to keep you informed of what's happening at DHS. We use a variety of ways to communicate with our families from emailing, to Facebook, to our new texting program called Remind 101. PTO along with several administrators, teachers and club leaders are using Remind 101 this year. You simply text a phone number to join. Each person has their own phone number so that you can join the ones that pertain to your student. To receive messages from PTO text the message @dhspt to 334-275-4616. In closing I would like to wish a fond farewell to our graduating families with the Class of 2014. I wish you much luck as your children enter the next stage of their journey. I will miss you and them. To our amazing teachers, staff and administration, I thank you for all that you do to inspire our children and for your support of the DHS PTO. To the DHS families, it has been my privilege and a true pleasure to serve as your PTO president. Dothan High is a special school where magnificent things happen every day! I hope you will continue to be involved as often as you can. To our incoming families, WELCOME, we are glad you're here. I hope you will join us and leave your prints on your children's education. I look forward to beginning this school year with the lessons I have learned. I have enjoyed every second of our journey together and I can't wait to see what we will accomplish next. I welcome your ideas , comments, and suggestions. Please contact me any time. Let's work together and have a fabulous '14 - '15 school year! I look forward to seeing you all at Open House.
